Nonito Donaire fought Naoya Inoue in a much-awaited rematch and as both fighters fought, excitement was guaranteed. Nonito and Naoya fought each in 2019 and the bout was hailed as the fight of the year. Since their fight in 2019, both fighters have grown a lot and have improved their skills. Entering the ring, Nonito was the WBC bantamweight champion and Naoya was the WBA and IBF Bantamweight champion.
Both fighters are the best bantamweight fighters in the world and fought for the second time on Tuesday. While the first fight was a 12-round banger, everyone expected the rematch to be action-packed as well. However, Naoya showed excellent skills and ended the fight in the 2nd round via TKO. Naoya won the WBC bantamweight title after landing a huge left hook to Nonito in the second round. With the win, Naoya has extended his undefeated win streak to 23 and has become a pound-for-pound contender.
After his Loss, Nonito released his first statement and talked about the fight. Nonito said he is glad the referee stopped the fight and also said that he trained hard for the fight. Nonito also thanked everyone who supported him. He said: “I’m glad that the referee stopped the fight because I was always gonna stand up so that’s just part of me, I just don’t have any quit in me.”

Naoya is currently one of the best boxers in the world and his win against Nonito has proved why he is a force to reckon with. Naoya is now the WBC, IBF, and WBA bantamweight champion, and he has revealed that he wants to become the undisputed bantamweight champion.
In the post-fight interview, Inoue paid respect to the future Hall-of-Famer for stepping up to the challenge and for putting his WBC belt on the line. He also talked about his next goal and said that he will aim to become the Undisputed Champion.
He said: “My aim is to be the Undisputed Champion. If I can do that within this year of 2022, I would love to stay in this division, but if I can’t, I am capable of raising my division and fighting again in the higher division.”
The announcement means he will seek the WBA belt, the only bantamweight title that does not belong to him. WBA title is held by Paul Butler and this means he is on Naoya’s radar. Butler won his belt in May 2022.
