“Not Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, and definitely not Floyd!” Saudi Excellency names THESE two fighters as favorite of all time

Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the sport has been growing more and more. Furthermore, they have managed to conduct several big fights in a short period. Subsequently, people like Bob Arum and Eddie Hearn have stated that their involvement in boxing has made boxing bigger than ever. One of the key figures behind this is the Chairman of the General Authority for Entertainment, Turki Alalshikh. In addition, His Excellency recently spoke about his favorite boxer of all time, and it wasn’t prominent boxers like Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali.
Typically, boxing fans tend to idolize a particular fighter like Tyson, Ali, or Floyd Mayweather. Hence, fans normally do this because they like the fighter’s personality, career, fighting style, or legacy. In an interview with DAZN, Alalshikh was asked about his favorite boxer of all time. Subsequently, Alalshikh revealed that he had two favorite boxers, and the host began to guess them. The host was not able to guess correctly, and Alalshikh stated:

Initially, the host brought up names like Tyson, Ali, Lennox Lewis, Sugar Ray Leonard, Manny Pacquiao, and Evander Holyfield. However, Alalshikh stated that he likes them but does not consider them his favorite boxers. Furthermore, when the host stated Mayweather’s name, Alalshikh hilariously replied by stating, ‘Of course no.’
At the end, after the host couldn’t guess correctly, Alalshikh revealed that he has two favorite boxers, and they are Larry Holmes and Roberto Duran.
Turki Alalshikh responds to Oscar De La Hoya’s comments
Saudi Arabia has not only been enriching the sport of boxing but has also claimed to become the epicenter of the sport. This has pushed a nerve for promoters who wish to keep the sport in the US or the UK. Similarly, amongst these promoters is Oscar De La Hoya, who voiced his concerns about the Saudi takeover of boxing.
Furthermore, while De La Hoya did not mention Alalshikh by name, he stated that the goal of Golden Boy Promotions is to do the Golden Fights in Las Vegas. De La Hoya is also planning to build his arena to host events similar to UFC Apex. Hence, all of this suggests that De La Hoya will not be heading to the Middle East with his Golden Boy Promotions fights.
However, Alalshikh didn’t seem to care and responded to De La Hoya’s comments at the Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou press conference.
