As boxing’s lineal heavyweight champ, Tyson Fury has held a firm grip in the division for years. The 34-0-1 faces former cruiserweight king, Oleksandr Usyk this February. The clash between the English WBC champ and Ukrainian WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO titleholder has seen billing as the ‘Ring of Fire‘. Saudi Arabia’s Chairman of General Authority for Entertainment (GEA), Turki Alalshikh recently released an official promo of the heavyweight clash.
Fury vs. Usyk is to be the first undisputed heavyweight title fight since 1999. Concurrently, it’s also the first time an undisputed champ will see crowning in the four-belt era. Veteran and last undisputed champ, Lennox Lewis will also attend the famed affair.
Ahead of the undisputed heavyweight championship bout, Usyk has a forewarning for the rival:
I really don’t think about Tyson Fury. I don’t look at the way he acts and what he does. Most of his opponents fell for it. I don’t… I don’t care about what Fury thinks about me. He can underestimate me. He can overestimate me. I don’t care. I have my plans for him...Oleksandr Usyk said
This was Usyk’s message, in a sitdown with The Ring Magazine; the non-belt publication and listings organization. Usyk, the magazine’s slated heavyweight champ has already asserted his intended mental domination over Fury, before the mega-fight. At a towering 6’9″ and over 260lbs, Fury poses a prominent upper hand. But Usyk has been prepping rigorously as the ‘undisputed’ aspirant.
Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) was to lock horns this past April 29 at Wembley Stadium in London; then on Dec. 23. He and Fury have had on-and-off negotiations. With the latter’s decision-win in the Riyadh Season opening ceremony last year, against Francis Ngannou, things are finally set on course. And the new fight promo trailer hypes it up even more.
The Tyson Fury vs. Oklesandr Usyk undisputed showdown promo trailer releases
Tyson Fury is to face Oleksandr Usyk for all four major heavyweight belts on February 17th on pay-per-view in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. WBC, WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and ‘The Ring Magazine‘ heavyweight titles are on the line. As such, The Feb, 17 Fury vs. Usyk is shaping up to be quite an event.
Fury, the 2008 English National Championships gold medalist/ former English, European, and British heavyweight champ last fought in October. This was part of Saudi Arabia’s extended efforts to promote combat sports events, during the Riyadh Boxing Season.
However, unlike that, now the lineal heavyweight’s title legacy is on the line. And a fight promo trailer has come out for that.
Recently, the Francis Ngannou vs. Fury one was a great promo – also supported by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Eagle FC’s brief international expansion provided a fantastic trailer for Sergei Kharitonov vs. Tyrone Spong. A Baywatch spoof trailer from KSW also makes the list.
But the latest trailer is by far going down as one of the greats. From gladiatorial affairs to old-school Western outlaws, pirates, and anime-like clashes, the promo is one sensational piece of art that has taken netizens and fans of the sport by surprise. Only time will tell if the boxing icons can live up to the extent of this hype, come Feb. 17.
