De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez always have a bitter opinions on each other’s existence whenever the media questions stumble for each other. It wasn’t long ago when Alvarez’s current promoter Eddie Hearn verbally fired back at De La Hoya and asked why is he criticizing Alvarez for losing to Dmitry Bivol when all Alvarez did was make an attempt to achieve greatness. But regardless, De La Hoya found his turn to hit back at Hearn based on boxing.
Recently Hearn revealed his top 10 heavyweights of all time and the list went something like this: “1. Muhammad Ali 2. Joe Frazier 3. Mike Tyson 4. Lennox Lewis 5. Sonny Liston 6. Evander Holyfield 7. Riddick Bowe 8. George Foreman 9. Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk.” This list was revealed on Twitter by BOXRAW and a fan reacted in the comments by saying “Ridiculous list, no Joe Louis, Larry Holmes, & Jack Johnson, that list is a non-starter for me.”
Followed by this, De La Hoya said “He’s a casual”
What do you make of De La Hoya’s response? Do you agree with his opinion of calling Hearn a casual boxing fan? What would your list of top heavyweight fighters look like? At last, where do you put De La Hoya amongst the greatest boxers of all time? In his prime, De La Hoya had wins over the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez, Arturo Gatti, Willfredo Rivera, Hector Camacho, Pernell Whittaker, Miguel Angel Gonzalez and many more.
