Oscar De La Hoya finally admits cross-dressing in his drug-driven parties

Oscar De La Hoya is one of the most successful boxers, but his antics outside the ring have hampered his reputation. In 2007, after his loss against Floyd Mayweather, some of De La Hoya’s private pictures got leaked to the public.
Years after the incident, Oscar De La Hoya repeatedly denied the authenticity of the pictures. However, the fighter finally had enough of all the media pressure and decided to come clean in 2011. In an interview, De La Hoya revealed it all. This is what he said:

A story posted by The New York Post contained pictures of De La Hoya naked and wearing fishnet stockings with high heels and boxing gloves. The fighter was with model Milana Dravnel. Initially, De La Hoya denied everything.
Once the news broke out, De La Hoya paid Dravnel $20 million to keep her mouth shut. The pictures and the stories got a lot of attention, and they destroyed his reputation in the boxing community. It happened towards the end of De La Hoya’s career. Hence, it did not stay in the fans’ minds for a long time. However, the media never forgot.
Oscar De La Hoya’s leaked photos remain one-of-a-kind
The scandal involving De La Hoya and the leaked pictures caught everyone off-guard. It was a time in the US when cross-dressing was not that publicly accepted. De La Hoya had a stellar reputation at the time. Nowadays, many fans accuse him of using cocaine. However, De La Hoya was a fan favorite and a PPV draw during that time.
Today’s generation might not understand the implications of such a photo leak. Imagine Conor McGregor or Floyd Mayweather having the same fate, and it would not bode well for them. After assessing De La Hoya’s last years in boxing to his retirement days, one could claim that the legendary boxer had mental health-related problems. Nevertheless, it was the start of all his problems.
These days, he embarked on feuding with combat sports figures like Dana White and Eddie Hearn. De La Hoya also admitted to cheating on his wife years later. Hence, all shreds of evidence point to a struggling phase of De La Hoya’s mental health. One could say the leaked photos were nothing in front of the mental health struggles he underwent.
