Oscar De la Hoya was not seen at the post-fight press conference with Ryan Garcia. Many fans were puzzled by this move from De la Hoya as he is Ryan Garcia’s promoter. However, De La Hoya claims he had a very good reason for leaving the venue early.
Gervonta Davis managed to Defeat Ryan Garcia in one of the most anticipated matches of this year. Davis defeated Garcia via a brutal body shot in the 7th round of the match. While Davis was seen with Floyd Mayweather during the post-fight conference, his promoter did not accompany Ryan. Ryan Garcia is the biggest draw in Oscar’s Golden Boy Promotions. De La Hoya promoted the fight throughout the whole fight week but remained absent after Ryan’s loss. Fans believed De La Hoya left Ryan alone to lose the fight. However, De La Hoya clarified the real reason for his absence.
Oscar De La Hoya explained that he had received death threats throughout the whole fight week. His security team wanted no harm to De La Hoya so, they advised leaving early. ” My security team told me, ‘Boss, we’ve got to get the f**k out of here,’ because I received death threats. You guys don’t know this, I received death threats throughout the whole week, and they just said it was simply too dangerous, so we got out of there.” said De la Hoya in his Instagram post.
Oscar De La Hoya was also trolled by Floyd Mayweather for his absence. While it looked like Oscar wasn’t there to support Ryan’s first loss he made it clear he fully supports Garcia. Oscar thinks that Ryan will learn from his loss and is eagerly anticipating the 24-year-old’s comeback
Fans advise Joseph Benavidez to stay away from Oscar De La Hoya

David Benavidez recently posted a picture of him having dinner with Oscar De La Hoya during the Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis fight week. Benavidez is coming off a win against Caleb Plant and wants to fight Canelo Alvarez next. De La Hoya has been vocal about Benavidez’s title-shot situation as well.
Oscar De La Hoya, however, suffered a massive shock after Ryan Garcia lost his fight against Gervonta Davis this weekend. Garcia is the most famous boxer under De la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. So, fans were confused when they did not see De La Hoya present with Ryan during his post-fight conference. Many believed Oscar abandoned Ryan Garcia after his first loss.
After Benavidez posted the photo with De La Hoya on Instagram, many fans advised him to stay away to avoid the same fate as Ryan Garcia. Fans also advised Benavidez not to sign with Golden Boy Promotions as he would get betrayed by De La Hoya. While no news of Benavidez signing with Oscar has been in the news, fans clearly seem to hate De La Hoya for his actions.
