Oscar De La Hoya was the pay-per-view king from the later part of the twentieth century to the earlier parts of the twenty-first century. However, since losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr., he has seen a decline in popularity and public perception.
Recently, De La Hoya’s claim that Terence Crawford easily defeated Saul Alvarez in a hypothetical boxing match has garnered controversy. Max Holloway was quick to react on X (formerly Twitter) on “Golden Boy’s” remarks. Holloway tweeted, “Oscar been on one lately, lol.” A fan replied to Holloway’s comments, “Lately, bro, his whole life. Dude has kilos in his closet.”
De La Hoya’s comments about Crawford defeating Alvarez because of having superior footwork are atrocious. Crawford fights at 147 pounds, while Alvarez is a 168 pounds fighter. De La Hoya has had issues with substance abuse and has previously admitted to being addicted to cocaine. However, he has admitted to being sober lately.
Dana White and De La Hoya had recently entered a public spat, with the boxer finally apologizing to White. However, White has not reciprocated the respect, citing De La Hoya as not a good person. De La Hoya had his documentary released a few weeks back.

Oscar De La Hoya’s fall from grace is unbelievable. He was the “Golden Boy” of the U.S.A. He became Mexico’s pride after his bouts with Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. His jabs were darting and even game problems for Floyd Mayweather Jr. However, the fan’s reaction to his prediction of the hypothetical Terence Crawford vs. Saul Alvarez matchup further exemplifies his recent decline from decline.

The majority of the fan reaction insinuated that De La Hoya brought back his drug habits. Most of the fans agreed with Max Holloway’s comment. Some even referred to De La Hoya as an “Angry Ex-Girlfriend” due to his past association with Saul Alvarez. A fan connected him with an adult film star, Moriah Mills. Mills’ name went the rounds in social media due to her tirades on New Orlean Pelicans’ center Zion Williamson. Williamson allegedly had an affair with Mills.
