Fabrication in media is not an unusual aspect of pop culture. Celebrities are often misquoted by outlets. Sometimes, even mistaken. Such was the case for Mexican fighting pride Canelo Alvarez. A commoner at a public place was mistaken to be ‘Saul’ and fans reacted hilariously to the viral tweet.
A video on Twitter went viral of a classic pub fight. In the video, a red-haired man is witnessed punching multiple people to defend himself and his friends. The bravery of the man was applauded by social media. The man was perceived to be world champion boxer, Canelo Alvarez. Fans on various social media platforms went on to praise the Mexican fighter for his viciousness in the street fight.
However, the unassuming man in the video is not Canelo Alvarez. Following the video’s virality, the truth behind was eventually dug in and revealed by fans. Despite the fighter not being Canelo Alvarez, the true identity of the man remains unknown. The internet had once again sparked a debate into a matter that was far from important. Somehow, the internet also concluded that it was ‘Brit Basher‘ prior to his flourishing career in boxing.
The viral nature of the tweet allowed it to garner a lot of attention. On Twitter, fans reacted to the situation and joked on the matter. However, some fans were split on it. Whilst some were convinced the street fighter was Alvarez, the rest debunked it by providing evidence.

“Flashback to young Canelo protecting his friends in a Mexican pub, before his boxing career started.” This was the caption of a viral tweet uploaded by the popular boxing handle ‘Boxing Kingdom.’ Despite what the caption read, the street fighter in the video was a stranger. The man in the video was in fact, not Canelo Alvarez. However, this did not stop fans from speculating further. One fan wrote, “It is! Canelo himself tweeted this a few months back.“
Canelo Alvarez is one of the best boxers in the modern day. The Mexican fighter had racked up wins over fighters like Billy Joe Saunders and John Ryder. Despite the man in the video not being ‘Saul,’ fans went on to praise the veteran boxer for his accomplishments in the sport.
