Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero once sidelined his revenge against Gervonta Davis for the ‘much bigger’ Ryan Garcia fight. At 15-1, 13 KOs, Rolly Romero, the pro boxer was keen on defending his WBA light welterweight title against Garcia. Going up against ‘King Ry’ of the Golden Boy Promotions, he had much expectation. Romero had prompted that it would be one of the biggest PPV events of the year, attributing to his draw power. But now, tables have turned on such anticipations.

Garcia’s attempt to secure his next opponent has left the fans buzzing. First, Garcia was to fight Devin Haney, but he later backed out and said he wanted to fight Romero or Isaac Cruz instead. What’s more, Garcia and his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, publicly feuded over this. Promoter De La Hoya threw a curve ball at the superstar, pushing Romero vs. Ohara Davies next. Now, check what Romero said about such interpersonal squabbles affecting his next fight:

F**k Princess Ryan Garcia, F**k Oscar de la Fishnets, and f**k DAZN, the shittiest streaming network out there, for wasting my time and, more importantly, wasting the entire boxing worlds time...It’s disgusting to see how you guys do business, then trying to go behind my back offering Pitbull an offer, then claiming I out priced myself. Y’all f**ked up

With a mixed effort, Ryan rebounded from his last KO loss to Davis. He stopped unheralded lightweight Oscar Duarte in the 8th round at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The scuffle and contempt from De La Hoya for Garcia comes in light of his association and new friendship with 50-0 legend Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather has long nudged that he is willing to sign Garcia. Thus, comes the fiery string of warnings from Garcia’s promoter, and the shuffle in plans. Conversely, though, Romero has not been too set on such politics.

If there’s one thing Floyd Mayweather knows how to do impeccably is to come out striking with a surefire shot. Mayweather and Garcia recently went on a 3 AM run in Las Vegas, after an NBA game, preceding Garcia opting for Romero. De La Hoya has scoffed off the continued association and even warned ‘Money’ off. But Mayweather has continued to like all things Garcia and Romero, and on such a square-off. Check out such a post of his, on his IG account –

For the better part of 2023, Garcia and De La Hoya have been at odds with each other. So much so that even Romero opted to pull out of active negotiations with the duo. Now, with Mayweather in the mix, things are getting only worse than ever. However, fight fans expect Garcia to switch up to Mayweather promotions, given his recent contractual splits.
