Ryan Garcia is set to make his return to the ring in November or December after his defeat to Gervonta Davis. According to sources, the junior welterweight contender Pedro Campa is one of the top choices for the bout. Ryan Garcia needs to win after suffering a horrible loss against Davis.
Davis defeated Garcia in the 7th round of the biggest payday fight of the year in boxing. Tank control of the bout dominated Garcia for most of the bout. Golden Boy took legal action against Garcia, and his lawyer, Guadalupe Valenzuela, asked the court to uphold their promotional agreement. However, Golden Boy said it was not valid and enforceable, and Garcia sought to dismiss the case. Subsequently, Garcia posted a photo stating, “Fighting at the end of the year.”
Hence, even though their relationship remains strained, both sides are still trying to get Garcia’s next fight on the cards. We don’t know where the fight will take place, and we don’t know if it’ll be DAZN-only or PPV-only. Furthermore, Garcia’s camp attempted to set him up as a potential opponent for WBA junior lightweight champion Rolly Romero.
However, the fight could not take place this year due to Romero’s injury and a mandatory defense scheduled against Ohara Davies. However, they could fight sometime next year. Garcia needs to defeat other top contenders to set up a rematch against Davis in the future.
