Ryan Garcia is known for being one of the fastest-hitting and most confident boxers in the world. However, this boxing star also has a deeper spirituality than what meets the eye. Furthermore, Garcia has always expressed his faith in Christianity and is very religious. As such, in an exclusive interview, he revealed a surprising side of his religious faith.
Currently, Ryan Garcia has been jumping from one opponent to another for his next big fight in April 2024. Furthermore, he initially targeted Devin Haney and later switched to Rolando Romero or Isaac Cruz. However, his negotiations with them failed, and Romero and Cruz are now set to fight in March.
Similarly, Garcia reneged on his negotiations with Haney’s team, and while talking about the potential fight, Garcia spoke about his faith. As such, Garcia stated,
So sometimes, right under my breath, I will speak in tongues. And I don’t want them to think that I’m tripping. Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift, and I just have that spiritual gift.
Garcia openly spoke about his religious practices and claimed to have a spiritual gift of speaking in tongues. Subsequently, this made the interviewer curious, and he asked Garcia more questions to get a better understanding of what he meant by speaking in tongues. Hence, Garcia stated that speaking in tongues refers to praying fully for the will of God.
Furthermore, Garcia made it known that the person doing it does not know exactly what they are saying, but it is related to God. Subsequently, Garcia revealed that he did not understand what it was until he had a dream within a dream where he understood what it was.
Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney resume negotiations
The year 2024 has been a rollercoaster ride for Garcia as he tries to stymie his big fight. This started with his negotiations with Haney, which gained a lot of momentum until the former dropped the fight. At the time, Garcia revealed that he wanted to fight Romero because it was a bigger fight. However, he has recently revealed that his decision was directly influenced by Floyd Mayweather.
Furthermore, Garcia attempted to secure a fight with Romero or Cruz, but those negotiations failed. Garcia’s promoter, De La Hoya, claimed that they out-priced themselves out of negotiations. Subsequently, after a tug-of-war between Garcia and De La Hoya, it appears that the former is again pursuing a fight with Haney.
In an interview with FightHype, Garcia revealed that their teams have again begun negotiating the fight. As such, Garcia stated that he doesn’t want to make anything official until the contract is signed. He also made a bold claim that he would defeat Haney inside the ring.
