Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney is only a month away, but the hurdles ahead of the fight keep increasing. Initially, Garcia was not able to secure an opponent and jumped from one potential opponent to another. Subsequently, he was able to secure a contract with Haney, but this was only the beginning. Garcia began behaving erratically and consuming drugs and alcohol ahead of the fight. Furthermore, he now believes Floyd Mayweather is trying to get his fight called off.
Garcia recently appeared for an interview with FightHype and spoke to Ben Thompson. Before the interview, the latter had retweeted Michael Benson‘s tweet. As such, the tweet was about boxing’s bitter truth, which fans do not accept.
Subsequently, Thompson retweeted this and stated that Ryan Garcia was mentally injured and the fight should be postponed. This resulted in Garcia confronting Thompson about the tweet, and he stated:
I know that you’re working for Floyd. And Floyd probably told you to try to make my s**t go down. But I need you to know that this fight is going on. Nobody can stop it.Ryan Garcia said on Fight Hype
Garcia claimed that Thompson was working for Mayweather, which prompted him to tweet about his mental state. Furthermore, the 25-year-old believes that Mayweather is trying to get the fight called off but is confident that it won’t. A few months ago, Oscar De La Hoya claimed the same and stated that Mayweather was influencing Garcia.
This resulted in Garcia and Haney not securing a fight, and the former was set to fight Rolando Romero. Hence, Mayweather wanted to make that fight happen since Romero is a part of Mayweather’s promotions.
Ryan Garcia says he can knock out Floyd Mayweather in his prime
Garcia, a rising star in boxing, has been spotted with retired champion, Floyd Mayweather, on several occasions. In January of this year, ‘KingRy’ went on a morning run with Mayweather through the streets of Las Vegas. Subsequently, after spending time with him, Garcia seems to believe he can defeat the well-renowned boxer.
As such, during a live at X’s space, the moderator asked Garcia who he could knock out in their prime. The list included Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Floyd Patterson. However, Garcia unexpectedly mentioned that he believes he can also knock out Mayweather in his prime.
KingRy probably misheard Floyd Patterson as Floyd Mayweather, which prompted him to claim this. However, the young boxer’s confidence to knock out Mayweather in his prime was astonishing. In addition, this indicated that their relationship has been developing even though they got along.
