Shakur Stevenson was able to accomplish his goal of becoming a three-division world champion in his recent fight. Furthermore, Stevenson fought against Edwin De Los Santos at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the WBC lightweight title. In addition, Santos was a replacement for Frank Martin, who was supposed to initially fight Shakur Stevenson for the title. Hence, fans had presumed that Santos would be an easy opponent to deal with for Stevenson.
However, the fight played out in a different and much more underwhelming manner, which has utterly disappointed boxing fans and experts. Most people complained about how the fight lacked action and that the twelve-round bout was completely boring. Both fighters refrained from getting involved in any risky exchanges of blows during the fight. Hence, both remained cautious and mostly maintained their distance while jabbing at each other to avoid any counterpunches. Furthermore, the fight has also been criticized by Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, Rolly Romero, and several other notable figures.
The fight was uneventful for 12 rounds, with neither fighter landing any significant blows throughout the fight. Furthermore, during the fight, several fans expressed their dissatisfaction by booing them throughout the fight. Many fans were spotted leaving the arena before the final round, even though the fight was the main event.
As Stevenson shifted up in weight for this bout, he had hoped to draw the attention of fighters such as Haney and Gervonta Davis. However, after Stevenson’s lackluster performance, a potential bout against Haney or Davis seems far-fetched for now.

In the first round, Santos attempted to counterattack but was quickly overwhelmed by the superior defensive skills of Stevenson. Hence, Stevenson was able to contain him when he attempted to launch his initial attacks. Subsequently, this marked the start of a pattern that would continue throughout the remainder of the fight.
In addition, Garcia criticized the fight by stating how the fight made him sleepy because of the lack of action. Similarly, Romero also tweeted about how Stevenson has found the cure for insomnia and has often called Stevenson a boring fighter who can put people to sleep outside of the ring instead of inside. Subsequently, Haney tweeted about how he should have offered him 10% because of his horrible performance.
Furthermore, George Kambosos Jr. also trolled Stevenson by uploading a photo of him falling asleep while watching the fight. Similarly, several other experts and fans expressed how underwhelming and boring Stevenson’s performance was inside the ring.
