Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya have one of the most complicated fighter-promoter relationships in boxing. Before fighting Oscar Duarte, Garcia took aim at Golden Boy Promoters De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins. Nevertheless, Garcia still remains a part of the Golden Boy Promotions, but the relationship remains tense. Initially, Garcia had called out Devin Haney, and De La Hoya supported the call-out. After a while, Garcia decided to fight Rolly Romero.
De La Hoya did not like the switch-up in opponent. He also remains irritated by Garcia’s budding friendship with rival promoter Floyd Mayweather. Things went to a different level when Mayweather felt Garcia vs. Romero was the fight to make. Hence, De La Hoya recently pitched Jose Ramirez as a potential opponent. This led Garcia to fire back at De La Hoya. This is what he wrote:

Furthermore, after De La Hoya announced Ramirez, Garcia indicated a lack of desire to not fight Ramirez. The boxer and the promoter remain in a tug-of-war about his next opponent. It led ‘King Ry’ to suggest a bout against De La Hoya after failing to agree on almost everything.
Garcia stated that he wanted the fight to be lucrative and bigger business when he announced his intent to fight Romero. However, De La Hoya seems at odds with his fighters, and their dispute has become a public spectacle. Only time will tell what the future holds in the toxic relationship between the boxer and the promoter.
