Devin Haney has agreed to fight Ryan Garcia for Haney’s WBC super-lightweight title on April 20 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Furthermore, Haney and Garcia have talked about a fight before, but this is the first time a deal has been officially made. Garcia initially expressed interest in fighting Haney but then turned his attention to Rolando Romero. However, Romero signed on to take on Isaac Cruz at the PBC’s first PPV on Amazon Prime.
Hence, Haney will be making his first world title defense as a super lightweight when he squares off against Garcia. Since both Ryan Garcia and Haney didn’t have immediate lucrative opportunities, their negotiations resumed, and the fight is set to happen in Las Vegas. As such, boxing journalist Michael Benson shared the news stating:

The exact location of the fight isn’t known yet, but, it might be one of the biggest PPV events of the year. Similarly, Garcia vs. Gervonta Davis, which took place in April 2023, was one of the biggest PPV events of last year. The event got over 1 million PPV buys and generated over $22.5 million in gate receipts.
Haney, on the other hand, may not have the star power of Davis, but he does have a sizable fan base and regularly sells out venues. Hence, the April 20 fight between Haney and Garcia is set to be a super fight.
Fans react to Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney
After a tug of war between Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya it appears they have decided his next opponent. As such, Garcia is set to fight Haney with whom he had initially engaged in negotiation at the beginning of 2024. However, their negotiations failed after Garcia was allegedly influenced to not take the fight by Floyd Mayweather.
Subsequently, after not finding any potential lucrative opponents they have now agreed to fight each other. Fans reacted to the news stating, “Shout out to Garcia, Tank would never sign the contract to fight Haney”
Fans expressed their excitement for the upcoming fight and praised Garcia for taking the fight, unlike Davis. Furthermore, fans mentioned how the fight will be interesting, considering they have a 3-3 amateur record to settle. Subsequently, some fans expressed their distrust towards the news since this wasn’t the fight that had been canceled.
