Shakur Stevenson believes he can easily defeat the reigning UFC bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley, in a boxing match. Stevenson, a former two-time world champion, feels that certain MMA fighters may be overstating their capabilities. Furthermore, Stevenson believes that this is mainly because of the latest crossover match-up between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou.

Many people felt that Fury would easily defeat Ngannou because it was Ngannou’s professional boxing debut. However, though Fury is an undefeated boxer, he had a difficult fight and only won via a controversial split decision. As such, Stevenson issued a response directly to O’Malley and stated:

Tell him we can get it in. I'm ready to lock in with him. It's levels to this sh!t. If he wants to come try his hand, I'll beat the sh!t out of him.

O’Malley has pondered the possibility of fighting Gervonta Davis in a crossover boxing event. Hence, in response to the O’Malley challenge, Stevenson has rather asserted himself as the opponent that O’Malley should fight. Subsequently, Stevenson believes that knocking out O’Malley will establish the distinction between boxers and MMA fighters.

Furthermore, Stevenson believes that celebrity boxing matches against old and cherry-picked fighters have given boxing a negative image. In addition, Stevenson stated that Fury’s performance against Ngannou was off, and he might not have taken the fight seriously.

Sean O’Malley talks about fighting Devin Haney

At UFC 292, Sean O’Malley achieved a remarkable victory by defeating Aljamain Sterling. Furthermore, O’Malley knocked out Sterling in the first round and became the UFC bantamweight champion. Following his victory over Sterling, O’Malley held a post-match press conference in which he discussed his plans for his career.

He’s looking forward to taking on Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera in a rematch for the bantamweight championship. Furthermore, O’Malley wants revenge for his only professional loss, which he says was an accident.

Subsequently, his most noteworthy declaration was his aspiration to compete in a crossover boxing match, potentially with Gervonta Davis. In addition, O’Malley and Devin Haney have also been considering a potential fight between them.

However, O’Malley stated in a podcast that the UFC turned the idea down because Haney is not very well known. Hence, O’Malley said that his chances of fighting Haney are absolutely zero.
