“Motivates me,” Shakur Stevenson reveals Floyd Mayweather’s quote which makes him a better boxer

Shakur Stevenson is one of the rising stars of the lighter-weight divisions in recent years. As he gears up for his next defense, fans are waiting with bated breath to see what he will do next. Silver medalist at the 2016 Summer Olympics, ‘Sugar’ turned professional the following year and has since risen in the rankings, beating every opponent he has faced. As one of the brightest young stars of this generation, he takes his cues from Floyd Mayweather.
In his 21 bouts, he has won several titles in three different weight classes. While these accomplishments only show his commitment as a fighter, his skills speak for themselves. Recently, during an interview with ESNEWS, the interviewer asked Sugar what motivates him to box and strive for greatness. Shakur Stevenson, in response, stated:

Sugar revealed that he keeps himself motivated by believing that he has not yet achieved greatness in the sport. Hence, he strived to become one of the GOATs of boxing and mentioned Mayweather’s quote about being the greatest.
Furthermore, Sugar stated that he goes for a run whenever he hears Mayweather’s interviews. It helps him keep a steady focus to push forward and achieve greatness. Stevenson also mentioned that he really appreciates Floyd Mayweather and looks up to him.
Shakur Stevenson thinks he is the best boxer
Even though Sugar believes that he hasn’t achieved greatness, he still does not doubt his skills as a boxer. This might be because of his illustrious career and achievements. Furthermore, Stevenson recently revealed that he will be coming out of his short-lived retirement and will fight on July 6th.
Many people have cast doubts over Stevenson’s skills after his last fight against Edwin De Los Santos. However, Sugar appears to be unfazed and still has faith in himself. As such, Stevenson announced that he is the best fighter in the sport and his imminent return to the ring.
Sugar also warned his opponents, who have been doubting his skills. He stated that everyone will get punished from now on, referring to his opponents. However, Stevenson has not yet fixed an opponent for his upcoming fight but has expressed a desire to fight Ryan Garcia.
