Two-time world champion Shakur Stevenson remains keen on going toe to toe with the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney. The featherweight boxer seems to be trying everything to get Haney’s attention. His latest gesture to get a reaction from Haney has spread like wildfire.
After a controversial win over former champion Vasiliy Lomachenko, Devin Haney briefly confronted Shakur Stevenson. While the two were not intense during their face-off, Shakur clarified that he is above the lightweight champion. Since the controversial fight, Stevenson has downplayed Haney’s win over Lomachenko. Shakur believes he will come out on top in a potential matchup between the two.
Both fighters were coincidentally present for an outdoor party in Houston. Shakur Stevenson took his chance and sent a champagne bottle to Devin Haney. However, he sent the bottle with a sign that said ‘Sign The Contract’ and advertised it through the party. The unusual gesture failed to draw any reaction from Devin Haney, as the lightweight champ remained stoic throughout the party.
However, Haney responded when the incident went viral online. The champagne incident resulted in an online spat between the two fighters. The feud between the two fighters remains alive, and a potential fight between the two would become a blockbuster clash.

Two-time world champion Shakur Stevenson and undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney went back and forth on Twitter. Both fighters attended an outdoor party in Houston where Shakur made a funny gesture. Stevenson sent a champagne bottle to Haney with the message ‘Sign the Contract.’ The video has since gone viral, and Haney is furious with Shakur.
After the party, the undisputed lightweight champion went on Twitter and called Stevenson a clout chaser. “Clown s**t, Bob, JPrince & I don’t know wtf he talking bout. Just clout chasing. If it was a contract then we would go into purse bid because he’s my mandatory. When he really wanna fight tell his promoter. Until then, get off my d**k, ” posted Haney on Twitter. Shakur did not overlook the call out and lashed back at Haney.
The ongoing feud between both fighters might soon make it to the ring. Top Rank promoter Bob Arum who co-promoted Haney’s last three fights, is prepared to offer him a three-fight option. Since boxing promoters focus more on putting the biggest fight possible, a potential matchup between Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney might happen sooner than fans think.
