Oscar De La Hoya was once one of the most famous athletes in the world during his prime. Hoya was well known for his talent and his good looks, and he made $500 million from his successful career. Similarly, Floyd Mayweather is the most well-known undefeated boxer, with a record of 50 wins and 0 losses.

Mayweather was well known for his boxing IQ, defense, and hard work and made $1.1 billion across his career. Mayweather and Hoya fought each other in 2006 and still remain rivals who have a lot of beef between them. Former professional boxer Shane Mosley shed light on the intense rivalry that Mayweather and Hoya have. Mosley stated, “Maybe it’s a little bit of jealousy on Oscar’s part…a little bit. Oscar was first with all the money and the hype. And then Floyd kind of came through the backdoor and became, you know, bigger.”

According to Mosley, both Mayweather and Hoya did not want to back down during their rivalry era. Hence, both of them clashed inside and outside the ring to prove themselves as the better and superior fighters. However, Mayweather eventually far exceeded Hoya, even though both fighters had an amazing career, and this led to Hoya’s jealousy.

Similarly, “Money,” who was previously known as “Pretty Boy,” came under the limelight in 1993. Mayweather had started boxing at the age of seven, and he won his first Golden Gloves championship in 1993. Subsequently, Mayweather won the Golden Gloves Championship two more times, won a bronze medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics, and made his professional debut in 1996.

In addition, Hoya has won 10 world titles in six different weight classes and has a record of 39-6. Whereas Mayweather has won twelve world titles and the lineal championship in four different weight classes and has a record of 50-0.
