“He’s in a coma”- Simiso Buthelezi’s trainer blames witchcraft for his pupil’s deadly condition
Buthelezi's coach believes witchcraft led to the accident involving his pupil
The eyes of the boxing world are fixated on Simiso Buthelezi after the former champion suffered a grave injury during his bout earlier this week. Buthelezi was competing in the 10th Round of his boxing bout against Siphesihle Mntungwa when an unfortunate series of events led to the bout being called off immediately.
Buthelezi and Mntungwa were fighting for the All African WBF Lightweight title in South Africa. During Round 10 of the fight, a series of punches put Mntungwa to the canvas, however, it seemed as if the fighter landed a heavy jab Or hook on Buthelezi who went on to clash against the ropes, himself. This went unnoticed by the ref who sent Buthelezi to the neutral corner while Mntungwa took the 10 counts.
When the ref resumed the fight, Buthelezi would initially target the referee, probably thinking it was his opponent before fading off again and trying to punch the corner

Buthelezi was rushed to the hospital and updates were slow to come by. In the meantime, physicians and doctors working in the field of combat sports gave their opinion on the matter diagnosing the fighter to have only suffered a concussion. Today the worst thing that could have happened has happened. Buthelezi was just put into a medically induced coma as the doctors are fearful about his unresponsive condition.
At 7:50 pm, Tuesday local time in South Africa, Simiso Buthelezi’s coach provided us with further updates on the condition of his pupil. “There’s no change, in his condition, he’s in a coma, he not talking, moving or doing anything right now. The doctors say there could be a blood clot on the brain due to a blow to the head, ” said the boxer’s coach.
He continued on to talk about the ones suffering the most throughout this ordeal, the family of Buthelezi. He said, “This is very tough to take, especially for his family. Simiso has just graduated two weeks ago at UniZulu in Zoology and Botany.” He also blamed ancient Witchcraft to be the reason his student is in such a condition as he believes that no serious damage was done to the boxer during the bout itself.
