Stephen A. Smith shared his thoughts on the recent heavyweight clash between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury. Ngannou shocked the world last weekend when he went ten rounds against Tyson Fury on his boxing debut. Ngannou, who was not taken seriously by the boxing fans, dropped the heavyweight champion in the third round and made the decision look controversial.
At the end of the fight, Tyson Fury was announced the winner via split decision; however, it attracted a lot of criticism from fans who claimed that Ngannou was robbed. The former UFC heavyweight champion impressed a lot of fans as well as experts, and one of them was American TV host Stephen A. Smith.

Smith took to his YouTube channel and talked about the fight and how Ngannou dropped Fury, which was incredible. He continued:
This isn’t the days of Muhammad Ali. This isn’t that time where the heavyweight division was considered elite. Francis Ngannou should stay in boxing because he could make some noise in the heavyweight division…He could become the heavyweight champion.Stephen A. Smith on his YoutTube channel
Smith explained that, unlike the great era of Muhammad Ali, the heavyweight division currently isn’t that impressive. He suggested Ngannou continue what he’s doing, as he could change a lot of things in the heavyweight division.
Jon Jones credits Francis Ngannou for his unexpected performance against Tyson Fury
After Francis Ngannou‘s departure from the UFC, many fight fans mocked him for losing out on big paydays. There were some who accused the fighter of leaving the UFC in order to escape his Jon Jones heavyweight debut.

Jones and Ngannou were scheduled to fight, which was expected to be a massive event. Ngannou, after leaving the UFC, confirmed that he was never afraid of Jones and that his choice was ideal. Last weekend, after his performance against Tyson Fury, the Cameroonian-French proved his doubters wrong and made a statement.

Jones even went on to congratulate Ngannou and mention in a tweet that the heavyweight did a great job. Jones also confirmed that this will definitely open more opportunities for other UFC fighters to box.
