During the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight in 2015, both fighters were past their prime. Mayweather was 38 years old, while Pacquiao was 36. Realistically, neither fighter entered the ring at 100 percent due to their age and the toll taken on their bodies over the years.

Mayweather’s advisor Leonard Ellerbe was asked about a potential rematch against Pacquiao. He said “Floyd’s retired. He’s been very adamant about that, and there’s been zero discussions about coming out of retirement and I hope he stays retired. We haven’t had one conversation about Manny Pacquiao.”

However, their longstanding rivalry and the anticipation surrounding the fight made it a historic event. It generated $500 million worldwide and became the highest-selling pay-per-view event ever with 4.6 million buys. While the fight generated controversy and mixed reviews, it remains a significant moment in boxing history.
