Canelo Alvarez is associated with the title ‘face of boxing’ because of his skills, record, and prominence in the boxing world. Hence, he is often pitted against other fighters of similar stature, like David Benavidez or Terence Crawford. While Alvarez has not yet experienced a fight with them, he does often discuss his thoughts on the potential fight. However, recently Alvarez decided to send a subliminal message through his Instagram story.
As such, Alvarez uploaded an Instagram story of a poker table, and the secret message was a noticeable yellow placard taped to the table. Furthermore, it read ‘OMAHA HIGH’ and fans instantly associated it with Crawford since he is from Omaha. Hence, the story appears to be an indirect challenge from Canelo Alvarez while he decides on his next opportunity. Subsequently, this subtle callout was not just noticed by fans because Crawford responded to it in a video stating:
It’s light work, baby!Terence Crawford responded
Currently, Alvarez is fixing his opponent for his fight in May for the Mexican festival of Cinco de Mayo. The report initially indicated that Alvarez might fight Jermall Charlo. However, Alvarez recently received a $35 million fight deal from PBC to instead fight Jaime Munguia because that fight would sell more.
Simultaneously, Alvarez was also offered a $55 million fight deal from PBC to fight Benavidez, but that fight is unlikely to happen. Hence, this back-and-forth between Crawford and Alvarez could lead to a potential mega-fight on Cinco de Mayo.
Frank Stallone’s prediction for potential Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez bout
Crawford and Alvarez are by far the two biggest names in the boxing game right now, and both of them have fighters lined up for a fight. Further, the P4P King and the only undisputed super middleweight champion have been rumored to be set to collide. However, it doesn’t look like we’re going to see a showdown anytime soon.
In addition, Chris Algieri shared his prediction on Instagram that Crawford might soon retire from his illustration career. Furthermore, Algieri commented that he believes Crawford will have a big fight before his retirement, which could be against Alvarez. Subsequently, Frank Stallone, who is Sylvester Stallone’s brother, shared his prediction for the fight in response.
Stallone believes that Crawford has a better chance of winning and can emerge victorious against Alvarez. As such, Stallone justified his prediction by stating that Crawford has a better boxing IQ and speed, which is why he remains undefeated.
