The real HORRIFYING reason Mike Tyson does not want you to watch Hulu TV Series about his life
Tyson has not been compensated by Hulu for his life's story
It may seem odd that Mike Tyson was vehemently against people watching the new Hulu series about his life titled, Mike. To this effort he got a lot of combat sports figures including Dana White to join him in the campaign to boycott the series ever before it had even come out.
However, despite this, the series came out and it’s not half bad. While it glamourizes certain events and puts things that happened 3 decades ago into a more 2020s perspective, it certainly is not something one would be vehemently against. While Tyson states the main reason for him being against the series is the lack of his own involvement and financial compensation, we may have found the real reason for his opposition.
The series tells Tyson’s life story as a narration by Tyson himself, very much akin to his Broadway show, Mike Tyson: The undisputed truth. Each episode starts with Tyson on stage, and then leads to the flashback the episode is about. However, there is only one episode that features no narration from Tyson’s character played by Trevante Rhodes. Episode 5, simply titled, Desiree.

Mike Tyson’s criminal conviction that changed boxing history
For those who have followed Tyson’s career closely the name may immediately bring upon images of dark times in the fighter’s life. The only episode to feature narration from Tyson’s perspective is the one that deals with his rape conviction over then-18-year-old Desiree Washington. The episode title after her, solely tells her side of the story without commentary from Tyson’s character
In July 1991 , nearly a year after losing his title in an upset to Buster Douglas, Tyson was arrested on charges of rape. His accuser, Washington was still to enter college and the case was plastered across all media outlets.
Eventually, Tyson would be convicted on all charges and be ordered to spend nearly 6 years in jail. Then only 25, in the prime of his life, Tyson was all too aware that by the time he got out, he won’t have the same physical prowess he possessed then and has ardently denied all claims of non-consensual sex.

These are claims he has denied until today, however, his disturbing behavior has come out in the past that certainly do not help his reputation. In a documentary regarding the case, Tyson has gone on record to say, “Now I really do want to rape her and her f*cking mama” when pressed about his version of events that occurred that night.
The case itself came during a highly polarized time in America where a lot of black athletes were seemingly beings centers of highly publicized media trials. Tyson would eventually gain back his belts but never again become an undisputed champion after he got out of prison.
While he’s a long shot from the rowdy 24 year old with a serious temper issue, Tyson to this day has to grapple with the awful label on him and hence he doesn’t want to reminded about it though a TV Show about himself.
