Recent news of Canelo Alvarez’s departure from Matchroom Boxing had fans questioning his future endeavors. The Mexican fighter signed a $365 million-dollar deal with DAZN to exclusively stream his fights before leaving in 2023. Who better to lay out ‘Saul’s deal than his former promoter Eddie Hearn? The British boxing promoter recently explained the fighter’s PBC deal and his thoughts on the departure on Boxing Social.
“I think it’s a good move for him. Of course, we always wanna promote Canelo Alvarez,” said Eddie Hearn. He also revealed, “We never made him an offer. We didn’t have a fight for him for September. We were asked to make the Bivol [Dmitry Bivol] fight, that wasn’t possible.” The Mexican world champion remained adamant about getting a rematch against Dmitry Bivol after a devastating loss against the Russian champion in 2022.
“He’s gotta make his move. I spoke to him last night, I wished him all the best. We’ve done seven of his last eight fights and it’s been an amazing run.” Hearn replied to a question about DAZN’s opinion on Canelo Alvarez’s departure. He answered, “Honestly, they’re fine. Not every Canelo Alvarez fight is a success to DAZN. He’s a massive name, he’s done massive numbers for us.” This revelation came as a shock considering Alvarez’s international fame.
“Bearing in mind what we had for him? I think it’s a good move for him,” said Hearn about Canelo Alvarez’s PBC deal. Since the Mexican fighter did not receive the Dmitry Bivol rematch, ‘Saul’s interest shifted to Al Haymon’s promotional company to make the fight happen to get his revenge.
Eddie Hearn makes a plea at Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg

The Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg fight is a much-anticipated showdown between two billionaires. The president of the UFC, Dana White, spoke about the negotiations coming through for the event. One of boxing’s popular promoters, Eddie Hearn, seemed desperate for the fight to happen. In an interview with Boxing Social, Hearn made a plea to the business moguls.
“Do you think I really wanna comment or get involved in a fight between Elon Musk and Zuckerberg? The answer is absolutely yes!” joked Hearn. He continued, “Sign me up! I’m here to promote it. I’m not expensive. Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, you probably don’t even know who I am. But, I’m the number one fight promoter in the world. Let me onboard. I’m prepared to sell my soul for this fantastic fight.“
Eddie Hearn seemed on board for this fight. Both Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg’s cage match is an exciting concept that has captured fan attention. However, the much-anticipated bout remains in the negotiation stages and has yet to materialize.
