The undisputed heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk has been canceled and postponed. This happened after Fury sustained a devastating cut above his eyes during a recent sparring session. Furthermore, the fight has been canceled and rescheduled to a different date, according to His Excellency, Turki Alalshikh. Hence, the fight will still happen in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, under the same terms. 

Subsequently, these details were officially announced by Alalshikh himself during an appearance on The MMA Hour. Alalshikh and Tyson Fury joined the show with Usyk and his promoter, and it was revealed that May 18 was the new date for the fight.

Not only did Alashikh announce the rescheduling of the fight, but he also revealed that the contracts included a fine in case the other fighter rescheduled. Furthermore, Alalshikh stated:

For the 18th of May, I am guaranteeing both fighters a $10 million penalty if someone escapes and pulls out of the fight.

Hence, to guarantee that the fight will move forward this time, Alalshikh has claimed that both fighters will be liable for a penalty. Furthermore, Alalshikh announced that if Fury or Usyk backed out of the fight, then they would have to pay a fine of $10 million. 

Subsequently, Alalshikh announced the rumors that Fury backed out of the fight because he was scared. As such, Alalshikh stated that if Usyk is scared, he will arrange a fight between Anthony Joshua and Fury. Similarly, if Tyson is scared, he will entice any fighter that Usyk wants to fight.

According to reports, Fury suffered an injury during a training camp, and the fight has been postponed. Subsequently, official statements later confirmed that the February 17 bout will be rescheduled to May 18. The next few hours saw a lot of back and forth between the two camps, and a lot of heated words were exchanged.

Furthermore, the undisputed heavyweight clash will move forward because of Saudi Arabia, and they have even kept a backup. Fans reacted to this by stating, “Y’all over there are letting them Saudis control heavyweight boxing.”

Fans expressed that Alalshikh making these decisions for boxing is quite strange. However, most fans felt that Alalshikh is a blessing for the sport and is continuing to secure great matchups. Furthermore, fans showed a lot of excitement at the idea of Fury and Joshua fighting.
