The reigning WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury received a lot of backlash for picking Francis Ngannou as his next opponent. However, Fury asserted that fighters like Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk robbed him of the opportunity to fight. Furthermore, he stated that they have bottled themselves up instead of agreeing to a fight.
In an interview with Boxing News-plus, Fury spoke about the low-blow controversy that happened during the Usyk vs. Dubois fight. Fury stated that Usyk should have lost his WBO, WBA, and IBF titles against Daniel Dubois and called him a ‘quitter.’ Furthermore, Fury said, “Don’t be a littlesh**t house coward, be a man, stand up to it.” Subsequently, Fury said he had been boxing for the last 15 years and had won up to 22 belts.
Hence, Fury believed he knew the difference between a low blow and a punch to the belt area. In addition, he stated that the bodyshot rattled Usyk, and he took his time to recuperate instead of fighting. Fury also talked about the differing mindset between him and Usyk. The Gypsy King would have gotten back on his feet and fought to death rather than cheat like Usyk.
After the break, Usyk knocked down Dubois in the 8th round and stopped him in the 9th. Furthermore, Usyk finished Dubois with a lead right cross, and this time Dubois couldn’t beat the referee’s count.
Tyson Fury makes a surprising claim about the Francis Ngannou bout

Fury has faced off against many elite boxers from the heavyweight division in his boxing career and remains undefeated. However, Fury believes his fight against Francis Ngannou is more important than any other fight.
In the Fury vs. Ngannou press conference in London, Fury mentioned taking this fight seriously. Furthermore, he stated that he trained six weeks for the Deontay Wilder fight but would train 12 weeks for Ngannou. Fury said, “Losing to a boxer or a number one contender is one thing. But if I lose to an MMA fighter, I won’t be able to show my face”. Hence, Fury believed he had much more at stake than Ngannou.
In addition, Fury stated that he planned to bring his ‘A game’ into the ring and would win the fight. Furthermore, he wished to challenge the GOAT of MMA Jon Jones in a potential bout after defeating Ngannou.
