Tyson Fury has been denied access to the USA due to his alleged links to the Kinhan Crime Family. This was first reported by Nicola Tallant who along with being the investigations editor for the Sunday World, also has a book published about boxing’s links to organized crime.

The news first broke in April when it was announced by Claire Cronin, the US Ambassador to Ireland, at a press conference at Dublin’s City Hall. Calling for information leading to arrest or disruption of the Kinhan Crime family the US placed a bounty of $5 Million on head honcho, Daniel Kinahan. The mob boss’s dad Christy (65) and brother Christopher Jr(41) also had bounties placed on their arrest.

The prominent boxing stable, MTK Global was run by associates of the crime family and was co-founded by Kinahan himself. When news broke of the bounty placed on Daniel, the organization went into damage control but failed as the CEO Bob Yalen resigned shortly after prompting the company to close it’s doors. The stable had notable boxers including Tyson Fury, Billy Joe Saunders and David Price.

Kinahan rejoined the organization after initially selling of his shares and distancing himself from MTK in May 2020. At this point it was widely reported that the Irish police believed the Kinahan Cartel planned to use MTK as a front for criminal activities. MTK has also made a foray into MMA and have managed to sign prominent fighters like Darren Till, Aleksandr Rakic and Taila Santos. While the Boxing side of MTK has been shut, the MMA will live on as they are operated as a separate company .

Fury was last spotted with Daniel Kinahan himself in Dubai in February of this year. Since the bounty on his head has been announced the boxer has tried his level best to distance himself from the mob boss claiming he was never advised by Kinahan and that having photos with criminals doesn’t make him one. Fury himself had once posted on Instagram thanking the crime boss by name for getting a deal to fight Anthony Joshua done.
