Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury‘s clash will crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion, since 1999. Next month, Fury will look to nab the WBA, WBO, and IBF titles away from Usyk in this historic showdown. The bout was shifted by a small measure, due to Fury’s boxing bout with debutant Francis Ngannou. Very recently, the Ukrainian used the WBC belt itself ahead of the title unification bout, to play mind games on Fury.
The WBC champion isn’t without merits of his own, in the banter. He won his heavyweight title in a TKO victory against Deontay Wilder, in 2020. He then defended it successfully thrice, against Wilder, Dillian Whyte, and Derek Chisora. However, time and again Usyk has mocked the 34-0-1 Orthodox for already being in his head. Now though, Fury made a callout of his own again, labeling Usyk:

After months of failed talks by both camps earlier this year, Usyk instead defeated Daniel Dubois, with Fury opting to fight Ngannou. The boxing bout for the Riyadh Season opening ceremony saw PFL signage Ngannou almost knock down the boxer. Usyk was in attendance at this knockdown. Fury, however, won by way of a split decision. Check out his mountainside callout, in the footage below.
Fury, the jovial boxer, tends to go overboard on his callouts, as was with Ngannou as well. Despite all this, Ngannou’s coach and cornerman – legendary Mike Tyson has recently backed Fury against Usyk, as a more durable fighter. The Ukrainian though has other perceptions, as do some fans.
Fans react to Tyson Fury’s obscure high-altitude callout to Oleksandr Usyk
Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will face off in an undisputed heavyweight showdown, on Saturday, Feb. 17. The fight was shifted from Dec. 23, after boxing’s lineal heavyweight had faced Francis Ngannou head-on. Ngannou had performed admirably in their outing, earning even Fury’s praise. The latter, however, took on an unexpected toll, thus shifting the date of the bout.
The showdown happens at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Earlier in the week rumors were circulating that Fury had touched down in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. However, new footage by talkSport.com’s boxing editor Michael Benson shows him at a high altitude, making an unprompted callout to Usyk from the windy backdrop. This was after an apparent training session in the mountains. Here’s how some fans have reacted to it.
Many fans have alluded to him not being in Riyadh. Others have prompted that the bout might again be shifted or not take place at all, with the boxer elsewhere. Many have even drawn on his loss to Ngannou as well, and “two more weeks” of promotional videos preceding. TNT Sports Box Office – the new name for BT Sport – will broadcast the heavyweight event live. There is no slated news on the broadcast time as of yet. Ahead of their ‘Ring of Fire’ clash, the two have already clashed head-on in the press conference.
