“I’d like to see him retire”- Tyson Fury hits out at Deontay Wilder amid talks of the latter’s return

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder

Tyson Fury advises Deontay Wilder to hang up the gloves and enjoy retirement life. Fury and Wilder go way back to 2018 when both met for the first time in Staples Center, Los Angeles, California. The fight was a draw but the results were controversial.

The pair met again in 2020 for their rematch and this time Fury won the fight via TKO in the seventh round. Wilder lost his WBC title but fought again the next year to get his revenge.

In 2021, the pair had their trilogy fight which is considered one of the biggest rivalries in modern boxing history. This time Fury knocked out Wilder in the 11th round and there were no excuses as everything was clear.

The pair had a lot of animosity coming into the last fight and it continued after the fight too as Wilder refused to give respect to Fury. After that ‘ The Gypsy King’ went to defend his title against Dillian Whyte and after winning the fight easily decided to retire from the sport.

Fury recently joined Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren and Dev Sahni for a virtual interview. During the conversation, Fury discussed his life after retirement and the possibility of him coming back to fight.

While talking about former nemesis Deontay Wilder, Fury explained that the American has been broken apart both physically and emotionally. According to Fury, Wilder is not at all motivated so he should think about retirement.

“He’s been absolutely destroyed mentally, physically and emotionally. He’s a wreck at the moment. I’d like to see him retire… However, if he does want another good hiding, give me a call.”

However, it is weird that Fury made such remarks on his former rival. The reason being, it wasn’t long ago when Fury backed Wilder saying he would knock out every other heavyweight. So, it is puzzling that it didn’t take a month for Fury to change his opinion.

It’s true that Wilder’s last loss against Fury was a massive blow to the fighters motivation. Since then the fighter has not spoken about his future plans. Wilder had an amazing career before the Fury trilogy. The ‘ Bronze Bomber’ was a force of nature and had 41 knockout wins. Wilder is 36 now and it’s hard to tell what is left in him or will he be able to fight and win fights in future.
