Francis Ngannou and Anthony Joshua, and Teddy Atlas
The legendary trainer Teddy Atlas has shared his prediction for Anthony Joshua‘s next fight against Francis Ngannou. In his last fight, Joshua stunned many with an aggressive performance. Furthermore, Joshua took control of the fight from the first minute of the first round and dominated Otto Wallin completely. Similarly, Ngannou performed very well in his boxing debut against Tyson Fury last October.
In addition, Ngannou also managed to knock down the undefeated WBC heavyweight champion and only lost by a single point in a controversial decision. However, Francis Ngannou proved his potential in the heavyweight division and shocked the world as an underdog. Recently, Atlas spoke about the upcoming matchup between Ngannou and Joshua on his YouTube channel. Atlas felt that Ngannou had shown great potential in his debut, and Fury was unprepared for that. This is what Atlas felt Joshua should focus on:
He’s prepared mentally, unlike Fury, to take Ngannou seriously, stay on the outside, counterpunch, and stay in control.Teddy Atlas
Hence, Atlas believed that Joshua was prepared to face Ngannou, especially after his recent performance over Wallin. In addition, Atlas stated that Joshua might be able to show the difference between a polished boxer and an unpolished boxer. Furthermore, Atlas believed in this because Joshua has a lot of amateur and pro experience, while Ngannou lacks that.
However, Atlas remembered that Fury had that advantage over Ngannou but was not mentally prepared. Subsequently, Atlas credited Ngannou and his trainer, who helped Ngannou deliver an exceptional performance against the undefeated champion.
Teddy Atlas speaks about Francis Ngannou’s chances
Atlas praised Ngannou’s fight against Fury and stated he was among the few who believed in him. Furthermore, Atlas delved into the fight against Fury and mentioned specific rounds like the third and the eighth, where Ngannou dominated Fury.
Atlas also mentioned that Ngannou lacked experience in the boxing ring but was an incredible athlete and fighter. Hence, Atlas admitted that Joshua was a well-established boxer who had even won a gold medal in the Olympics.
Regardless of that, Atlas felt that Ngannou had a chance at winning. Furthermore, Atlas stated that if Ngannou can land a punch on Joshua’s chin, then the fight could go in his favor.
Hence, Atlas shared his expert opinion and believed that Joshua was the favorite and had the potential to win. However, Atlas did not underestimate the possibility that Ngannou might win because Ngannou was tough and has a lot of faith in himself.
