Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua, and Deontay Wilder are the best heavyweight boxers of this generation. Earlier this year, rumors circulated about Saudi Arabia hosting a competition for the best heavyweight boxers. Tyson Fury disputed those rumors on his Instagram. However, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, revealed that the negotiations are in progress. Fury, Usyk, Joshua, and Wilder will all feature on the same card for a whopping $400 million purse.
Hearn said, “The situation is that Saudi Arabia would like to do Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua vs. Deontay Wilder on the same night. I went out there two weeks ago, and they’re deadly serious. I’ve had two big fights with them before, so I know they deliver. As I understand it, they’ve been doing their own negotiations with Wilder, which have gone very well.”
Eddie Hearn is one of the biggest promoters in combat sports. He has a very good working relationship with Saudi Arabia. Even UFC president Dana White deeply admires Hearn. Saudi Arabia has become the “International Fight Capital” after hosting multiple high-profile boxing events.
Anthony Joshua has competed twice in blockbuster boxing bouts in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia hosted the highly anticipated boxing bout between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury. Hearn spilled some details about the event. He said, “Fury’s another story altogether, but not my business. All I’m concerned about is doing the deal for AJ vs. Wilder.” Hearn will focus on signing the deal for Joshua vs. Wilder’s fight.
Historical significance of Eddie Hearn’s plan featuring Tyson Fury and top heavyweight boxers
Muhammad Ali’s era of heavyweight boxing featured legendary fighters like Joe Frazier, George Foreman, and Ken Norton. Mike Tyson’s era had Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, and Hasim Rahman. However, no boxing promoter or country could ever bring those boxers together in a single fight card. However, master promoter Eddie Hearn looks forward to accomplishing the unimaginable.
Eddie Hearn and promoters in Saudi Arabia are attempting to bring the best heavyweight boxers of this generation together on the same card. Fury and Usyk are two undefeated fighters in professional boxing. Joshua and Deontay Wilder are former world champions. The rest of the heavyweight division is nowhere near their skill level and accomplishments. Boxing fans deserve to see the best heavyweights of the current generation on a collision course on the same card.
Wilder and Joshua have been rumored to fight since 2018. However, Hearns appears close to finalizing a deal for that fight. Usyk vs. Fury will feature a title unification bout between two undefeated heavyweights. Storylines like this have never been seen in the sport of boxing. The official announcement will arrive when the boxers sign to the contract.
