WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is arguably the best heavyweight boxer of this generation. He was set to fight Oleksandr Usyk in early 2023. However, with the fight negotiations falling through, the fighter went on to name a lot of heavyweights he was set to face. Fans were frustrated as no bouts were being finalized. Recently, Fury released a statement offering Anthony Joshua a mega-fight in Britain.

The post enraged fans as Usyk was set to take on Tyson Fury. The stylistic match-up between the fighters was said to be an interesting one. Alongside fans, veteran boxer Ricky Hatton disapproved of this venture. In an interview, the retired boxer touched on the changes in current boxing and Fury’s inadvertent ventures in the sport.

In an interview with ‘Boxing Social,’ Ricky Hatton was questioned about Tyson Fury’s opponent call-outs. “I don’t know what to believe,” said Hatton. He continued, “Boxing has changed so much. The best needs to be fighting the best. Because the main fights where the best aren’t fighting the best in boxing, especially the heavyweight division, I think it’s damaging our sport. I think we are getting left behind. It’ll be a crime if he [Tyson Fury] didn’t fight Usyk or Joshua.

It will be the biggest fight in British boxing history if he fights AJ. Everything is structured and set on to try and make a fight. It’s gone a little bit fake for me sometimes. I know Tyson wants to get these fights done,” said Ricky Hatton. The retired fighter is said to be a close friend of Fury. It was a breath of fresh air for fans to see him speak out on these corrupted issues.
