Former champion Anthony Joshua and his rival, Jarrell Miller, had a heated confrontation in Saudi Arabia recently. Both Joshua and Miller will be fighting on the supercard that will be held in Saudi Arabia on December 23. Furthermore, Joshua will face Otto Wallin in the main event, while Miller will face Daniel Dubois, a British fighter.
The pair bumped into each other at the hotel recently, when Miller interrupted Joshua’s interview. Initially, Miller crashed the interview by hurling demeaning and explicit insults at Joshua. However, Joshua maintained his composure and avoided any unnecessary scuffles or brawls. Subsequently, they had a dangerously close face-off where they had a heated exchange of words. Miller appeared to be suggesting that Joshua will not face Deontay Wilder in a fight that has been scheduled for March 9 next year. Joshua retorted,
I know what I'll do, I know who I'll fight. You don't know me, bro. Look at my record, who have I ducked?Anthony Joshua in a heated exchange against Jarrell Miller
Many people, including Wilder, have stated that Joshua has been avoiding fighting Wilder even after being offered a fight. However, Joshua seems to be confident that he will fight Wilder on March 9, 2024 and brushed off Miller’s comments. The feud between them started in 2019 when Joshua was set to take on Miller for his heavyweight title in New York.
However, at the last minute, the American was pulled from the fight after testing positive for an anti-doping cocktail. Instead, he was replaced with Andy Ruiz Jr., who went on to beat Joshua in one of boxing’s greatest upsets.
Anthony Joshua doesn’t think he can be the undisputed champion
In a recent interview, Joshua revealed that he has always wanted to become the ‘undisputed’ boxing champion. Furthermore, Joshua stated it was something he wanted to do all his life, but now he doesn’t see it happening.
The upcoming Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk bout will have a lot of historical significance, and fans are in anticipation. This is the first heavyweight unification bout ever since Lennox Lewis became the undisputed champion more than 20 years ago. Subsequently, in an interview with TNT Sports, Joshua discussed the possibility of acquiring the titles.
Hence, Joshua stated that he doesn’t think he can become an undisputed champion. Furthermore, he stated that the timeframe required to acquire the individual titles makes the dream unrealistic.
