Paul Butlin is a former British professional boxer, and in October 2013, he fought Anthony Joshua for the first time in a squared circle. However, Butlin lost by a second-round KO. Even though he fought Joshua, he was only paid a meager sum of £5,000, which was possibly his biggest payday. Hence, not all fighters are blessed with the opportunity to retire comfortably with immense wealth.
Anthony Joshua‘s opponent, Butlin is now a bailiff in the UK, and he recently went viral on social media after he calmly confronted an offender. Butlin approached the man as a law enforcement officer for the British Court. Furthermore, a recent video was posted on X by boxing journalist, Michael Benson. Subsequently, Butlin can be seen peacefully handing out a letter to a man with several unpaid fines. However, the main character reacts in an agitated way, and Butlin responds, stating, “I’m not here to fight you; I’m not a fighter, mate.”
The man taking the video is hostile to Butlin and threatens to beat him up if he doesn’t comply. Furthermore, he repeatedly threatens, abuses, and asks Butlin to leave his property. However, Butlin remained calm and cool throughout the encounter and tried to explain the matter professionally.
Butlin retired in June 2016 after going 16-24 with one draw. He is often well known for his fight with Derek Chisora, in which Chisora recreated Mike Tyson‘s infamous ear-bite incident.
Fans react to Paul Butlin’s video
Butlin recently went viral after a video of him was posted on YouTube. The clip now has 1.1 million views on YouTube and has since been re-uploaded on social media platforms like X, where it has been re-tweeted thousands more times. The video shows an angry cameraman yelling at Butlin for doing his job and delivering a letter about an unpaid fine that the man declined to pay.
As such, the confrontation got heated, and the man threatened to physically harm Butlin. The man was not aware of Butlin’s history as a professional boxer and seemed confident. Subsequently, fans reacted to this, stating, “It takes some restraint from Butlin, knowing he could probably end his week there and then.”
Fans praised Butlin for keeping his cool and staying professional even after being verbally attacked. Furthermore, fans commented about how Butlin could have easily killed the man if he wanted to. As such, fans praised the level of restraint he had in this situation, even after things almost escalated.
