Oleksandr Usyk is on a potential collision course with Anthony Joshua in June as he pulls back from the frontlines for the fight
Anthony Joshua- Oleksandr Usyk
The rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua might just take place sooner than we have expected. Usyk, who defeated Joshua in the first fight coming from being a cruiserweight world champion, is the current WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion. Not so long ago, Usyk’s birth nation of Ukraine got attacked by Russia which is still going on and has created a hostile environment across the world for the same.
Therefore, Usyk along with many other big names of the boxing world from Ukraine such as Vasyl Lomachenko and the Klitschko brothers, joined the Ukrainian forces to defend his nation from the Russian invasion led by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.
Oleksandr Usyk set to put his undefeated record again in a rematch with former champion Anthony Joshua
As reported by multiple sources, Usyk is now set to leave Ukraine for preparing for the Joshua rematch. Usyk has got out from the frontlines of the Ukrainian army for the same. The fight is happening as Joshua immediately pulled over the rematch clause after the first fight. Had it not been for the clause, Usyk would’ve fought the WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion Tyson Fury– who like Usyk is undefeated as well- to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
What do you make of Usyk’s move to settle business with Joshua? Do you think the fight should’ve waited to take place as long as the war is going or should Usyk first get rid of all the possible business obligations pending as a famous boxer? Now as the fight is expected to happen as early as June 2022, who do you think wins the rematch?
