SHOCKING! Doctors jump into the ring to save Josue Vargas from Dakota Liger in boxing match
Josue Vargas takes a beating from Dakota Linger
Josue Vargas vs Dakota Linger had one of the worst refereeing in the sport. Boxing being one of the most dangerous sports in the world requires some of the best safety measures in the world and a good referee is the first line of defense for a fighter who is in danger. When the referee fails to protect the fighter in the boxing ring, it should be considered unacceptable.
Though today’s boxing has some of the best medical facilities, referees, and safety measures, once in a while we come across an ugly incident that ruins the beautiful sport. One such instance took place during the boxing match between Josue Vargas and Dakota Linger. The fight was held at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Josue faced defeat at the hands of Vargas in the second round after a shocking stoppage from the welterweight contender. This bout was considered a mismatch given Linger was considered to be at the level of only a sparring partner of Vargas by many but the contender managed to upset the Puerto Rican fans with his stoppage of the very skilled Vargas. Though this is a highlight on its own, the biggest takeaway from the fight was the horrific refereeing leading up to the stoppage.

Doctors are forced to rush in to save Josue Vargas in the second round
In the second round, Vargas and Linger decided to bring out the big shots and a hook from Linger hurt the Puerto Rican and even led to a knockdown. The referee Ron Lipton called it a slip and pulled up Vargas the “half-conscious” Vargas to ask if he was okay. After getting a mixed sign, Lipton decided to let the fight continue.
Dakota once again pressured Vargas into backing himself against the ropes and went mayhem on the favorite. Dakota did not stop swinging and landing huge blows on the fighter. Once again Lipton stopped the fight to ask if Josue could continue and when the fighter could barely stand, the referee let the fighters continue.
When the fight was stopped a minute ago, Lipton let them continue and allowed the American boxer to continue hurting the defense less Vargas. Doctors and Vargas’ corner immediately jumped into the ring and called for the fight to be stopped. Watch the incident below:
