In 2005, the legendary boxer Mike Tyson had the unique opportunity to be interviewed by the late football icon Diego Maradona on his Argentine TV show, La Noche del 10. This historic meeting between two sports legends captivated audiences and remains a memorable moment in the world of sports and entertainment.
Their conversation touched upon topics ranging from their respective careers to their shared experiences in the world of fame and sportsmanship. It was truly an iconic moment, given that two titans of different sports shared a single stage.
The interview had some incredible moments, such as when Tyson tried to teach the superstar how to punch in front of a punching bag. Other than that, Mike Tyson also hoisted Maradona in his arms, which generated some bizarre pictures that got attention all over the world.
After the meeting, Diego Maradona and Tyson instantly became friends. Tyson also visited the area in Argentina where Maradona grew up. “Today I was in the neighborhood you were born [La Boca] and I think we come from similar places, we have a lot in common.I admire you and respect you very much,” said Tyson. The relationship between Maradona and Tyson remained long after that and the retired fighter also grieved on the football superstar’s death in 2020.
When Mike Tyson made fun of Brazil wearing a Maradona-signed Argentina shirt in court after ‘assaulting cameraman’

Mike Tyson, the iconic heavyweight champion, faced allegations of assaulting a cameraman named Carlos Eduardo da Silva at a nightclub in Sao Paulo in 2005.
Consequently, he had to attend a Brazilian court proceeding and Tyson decided to do so while wearing the jersey of Argentina’s superstar Maradona. Given the fierce football rivalry between Argentina and Brazil, it was a bold move by ‘IronMike’ but it seems like he didn’t care at all. It was supposedly the same jersey that Maradona gave Tyson during his visit to his TV show.
According to local reports, the youngest heavyweight champion was accused of making inappropriate gestures in front of TV cameras. He was instructed to appear in court again on March 7, but there is no indication that the case proceeded any further.
Fortunately, Tyson avoided imprisonment in connection with the incident, and the legal proceedings did not progress any further. While Tyson may have engaged in taunts towards the fans, the Brazilian justice system did not respond with anger.
