Tensions are always running high when the Boston Bruins take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. The two division rivals faced off on Tuesday night and once again tempers flared between them. At one point, Bruins captain Brad Marchand would jump on Chris Tanev after his hit on David Pastrnak.
The incident took place in the first period itself. With around three minutes, Pastrnak was hit by Tanev. The Maple Leafs defensemen drilled him along the boards in the side.
Marchand did not take the hit on his teammate lightly. Immediately after this hit, he would jump on Tanev in retaliation and took down his opponent on the ice floor.
Soon the two sets of players joined in the scrum. The referees quickly diffused the situation between Marchand and Tanev before things could escalate any further.
For his part in this scrum, Tanev was judged with boarding and roughing penalties, whereas Marchand was assessed a roughing minor for his hit on the Maple Leafs star.

This is not the first time Marchand has found himself in a tangle during a game between the Bruins and Maple Leafs. Last season, he got hit by Jake McCabe after the defenseman had just landed a hit on Jake DeBrusk.

Speaking about the game, the Maple Leafs entered the match without their star forward and captain Auston Matthews. Despite his absence, the team surged to an emphatic 4-0 victory with goals from Morgan Rielly, Matthew Knies, Steven Lorentz, and William Nylander.
This victory of the Leafs marked their first win in nine regular-season games against the Bruins. They are now 7-5-2 for the season while the Bruins slumped down to a 6-7-1 record.
The Bruins will now take on the Calgary Flames and hope to put this defeat behind them on November 8. As for the Maple Leafs, they will be in action a day later on November 9, as they clash heads with the Detroit Red Wings.
