Even before making his official NBA debut, the Los Angeles Clippers’ newest acquisition, Bradley Beal, is already winning his fanbase’s hearts lately, with his recent gesture towards the NBA veteran, Chris Paul. For those who are unaware, the NBA veteran is making his return to his old team, the Los Angeles Clippers, on what would be his farewell tour, as the 40-year-old stated in a recent podcast show.

Paul is coming back to Los Angeles, and Beal’s recent gesture won the Clippers fans’ hearts. Clippers exec Lawrence Frank revealed that Beal chose to willingly give his jersey number #3 to Paul as soon as he heard that the veteran is returning to LA for his farewell tour. Beal showcasing his professionalism and respect to one of the best players in this generation speaks volumes about his personality on and off the court.

Once Brad heard that it was a possibility that Chris was coming, he said, ‘I want to give him my number.’

Lawrence Frank told the media

In addition to having no other number in his career, Beal was just acquired by the Suns following a lackluster two-year tenure in the Valley. Beal and the Clippers reached an agreement on a two-year, $11 million contract that includes a second-season player option. Despite all this, the newest Clipper gave his number away for Paul.

These types of gestures also send immense positivity among the fan base and the team in general. The mood around the team will be in high spirits as the Clippers have done a solid job in the NBA trade market this offseason, already possessing the likes of James Harden and Kawhi Leonard on the roster.

Notably, Chris Paul played all 82 games with the San Antonio Spurs last season, while Beal hasn’t played more than 60 since the 2018–19 campaign. According to the Clippers executive, the number that Beal would wear this season has not yet been determined.

NBA analyst excited to watch the Clippers during the 2025-26 NBA season

As mentioned above, the Los Angeles Clippers have been solid this NBA trade market. They have been heavily active, trading in and out of important players as they look to build their roster around Harden and Leonard. With their recent signings of Bradley Beal and Chris Paul, NBA analyst Chiney Ogwumike is excited ahead of the new season.

Even though Ogwumike is a little concerned about the roster’s age, her optimism is rising back up to a 10. The player-turned-analyst discussed the team, mentioning newcomers Paul and Beal on the ESPN show.

I always get so excited about the Clippers, so excited to start a season, and I always get my heart broken, but I think we are gonna jump back in… I am really intrigued by what the Clippers have done. If you get a 17-point-per-game scorer [Beal] on 40% from three, you’re going to be like, ‘Oh my gosh.’

Chiney Ogwumike said

Ogwumike’s excitement is understandable. Mostly because the Clippers were outstanding all season until the NBA playoffs this past 2024-25 NBA season. They looked solid throughout on all ends of the court, with Harden and Leonard leading them.

However, they were dealt a huge blow by the Denver Nuggets in a close-out clash during the NBA playoffs, taking the series to Game 7. That said, the signs are there, and adding the likes of Beal and Paul to this roster elevates their side. So, the two-time WNBA All-Star’s excitement is justified when she talks about her favorite team going into the new NBA season.

Chris Paul earlier revealed that the upcoming NBA season would be his last

NBA veteran Chris Paul made a significant announcement about his future when the fans were preoccupied with the trade market. Paul reportedly hinted in an interview earlier this month at the American Black Film Festival in Miami with Jemele Hill that he would retire following the forthcoming season.

Chris Paul said, Straight up, at most, a year … I’m not going to lie to you.

Everywhere Paul has gone, he has made an impression on the side, and for the past year, he has developed a close relationship with Wemby. Now, with a return to his former side, he hopes to have a wholesome farewell tour and call it quits on his career in Los Angeles, hopefully by winning an NBA ring at the end of this season.
