For weeks, the Phoenix Suns have been heavily active in the NBA trade market this offseason. First, they got rid of their veteran Kevin Durant, sending him to the Houston Rockets in a trade deal. Next, they were looking to get rid of Bradley Beal, which they did as they are building their roster around their star player, Devin Booker.

Most recently, Beal was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, as per various reports. But a lot of teams were interested in the veteran before he signed for the Clippers. One of those teams was the Western Conference Giants, the Golden State Warriors. However, as per NBA insider Brett Siegel, the Warriors’ offer was not that attractive to snap up Beal on their roster.

Golden State also wasn’t willing to offer more than the minimum.

Brett Siegel wrote

Notably, the Suns agreed to buy out Beal’s contract and send him into free agency so he could easily deal with the NBA teams interested in him. However, the Warriors’ offer was not as great as many thought. They offered on Beal a minimum contract per Siegel, something that did not sit well with the NBA veteran.

He instead chose to sign for the Clippers, with teams like the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat also being interested in him. The same report claims that the Bucks were considered a viable contender and made a “very strong push” to acquire Beal. Following their acquisition of Norman Powell, the Heat were likewise only able to give a minimal contract.

The Warriors’ alleged interest in Beal is indicative of their continuous attempts to restructure the roster around veteran players Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green, as well as longstanding cornerstone Stephen Curry. With their failed pursuit of Beal, the Warriors will now look to other alternatives in the ongoing trade market.

The Clippers target another guard after snapping up Bradley Beal

The Los Angeles Clippers look in no mood to mess around this NBA offseason. They have done very well when it comes to building their roster ahead of the upcoming season. As per ESPN reporter Shams Charania, the Clippers are targeting NBA veteran Chris Paul for their point guard position, giving them depth in all positions

The one need for the Clippers right now is the point guard position, a reserve guard coming off the bench. I’m told they have Chris Paul on their radar among some other free-agent guards as well.

The Clippers have been great this trade market. Firstly, they started with re-signing James Harden to a long-term extension. They then moved on to signing veteran center Brook Lopez in free agency. Adding to their center depth behind Ivica Zubac for the upcoming year.

They then went on to sign John Collins in a 3-team deal, trading their star Norman Powell in the process. Now, most recently, they added Bradley Beal to their roster, signing him to an $11 million deal. Now, one would think that the Clippers’ roster building will come to a halt. However, that’s not the plan, as they move on to add another guard in the weeks to come.

Warriors player makes a fascinating Jonathan Kuminga remark on a recent radio show

In the eyes of its supporters, the Golden State Warriors’ summer has been disappointing because they haven’t made any trades or signings. To make matters worse, Warriors Center Trayce Jackson Davis made an interesting remark about his teammate Jonathan Kuminga, who is linked with many teams in this NBA trade market.

[Jonathan Kuminga] was a great teammate.

Trayce Jackson-Davis said

Given that Jackson-Davis’ agent is the brother of Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy, bringing up Kuminga in the past tense is undoubtedly controversial. Jackson-Davis might have misspoken, but he might also have knowledge that others do not. The Warriors fans will be hoping it’s nothing more than TJD mispeaking on the show.
