The 4 Nations Face-Off had some intense moments between USA and Canada. The first match between the two countries in over 9 years produced 3 fight withing the opening 9 seconds. Two of this fights featured the Tkachuk brothers – Brady and Matthew Tkachuk. Brady Tkachuk on Wednesday admitted that he was “more nervous” for his brother’s fight than his own.
Just 2 seconds into the match, Matthew Tkachuk would drop his gloves against Brandon Hagel of Canada. The two of them would engage in a spirited bout and exchanged some huge punches while igniting the crowd at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
As Matthew delivered some haymakers at Hagel, Brady was watching the action from the side. He was a bit nervous for his brother than his own fight as he had already planned to fight someone.
While appearing at the New Heights podcast of the Kelce brothers – Jason and Travis Kelce, the Ottawa Senators captain admitted this and expressed that he was unable to wait any longer to fight someone after watching his brother going all out.
1 second after the game restarted, he could into a tangle with Sam Bennett. The two of them would also exchange some strong punches while trying to take down each other. This fight was won by the younger Tkachuk as his brother had lost the previous duel.
I gotta say, I was way more nervous for Matthew fighting. And then when I saw him starting to throw, I was like, oh, here we go. I was listening to the crowd too. Every time he was throwing, I was like, okay, I don’t even know if I can wait till the next whistle.

A few moments later after their fight, a third fight erupted. J.T. Miller would fight Colton Parayko after the puck had moved near the Canadian goal. All of them would then sit in the penalty box along with their opponents for instigating fights.
USA ended up winning the game 3-1 and reached the finals with two wins. During the rematch between them, Canada got their revenge and took home another international honor thanks to a Connor McDavid overtime goal which won them the game 3-2.
Brady Tkachuk throws shade at Vancouver Canucks for not allowing Quinn Hughes to participate in 4 Nations Face-Off
One of the biggest names that did not appear in this 4 Nations Face-Off was Quinn Hughes. The reigning Norris Trophy winner was one of the first people named in the USA squad. However, he would take back his name from the event a few days before the start. Brady Tkachuk recently throw a shade at Hughes team, Vancouver Canucks for not allowing him to participate in this tournament.

Hughes had missed out the last four games of the Canucks due to an injury before the tournament begin. Later during the competition, there was a speculation of him making an appearance in the final due to an injury in the US team. However, he was not allowed to participate later on due to the rules of the event.
Appearing at the Spittin Chiclets podcast, he has now sparked controversy while taking a shot at the Canucks.
I actually Facetimed kind of like Quinn when he was figuring it out—when people were saying, ‘Quinn might come, Quinn might not come.’ I think he was all about coming, but I just don’t think he got cleared by Vancouver to play. Yeah, a little shady business to begin with there. We all know who they were cheering for.

Several fans on social media though have defended Tkachuk for this. They claimed that he was joking about this whole “shady business” comment. Nonetheless, the Senators captain has now made headlines regarding this.
Meanwhile, Hughes, who serves as the captain of the Canucks, did play in his side’s game against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. He is the highest point scorer of his team with 14 goals and 46 (60 points) while playing in 48 games.
