‘Candid’ Brandon Aiyuk admits he’s ready to go play with Jayden Daniels at Washington if the 49ers don’t pay him what he deserves

Aiyuk's stunted negotiations with the 49ers has made him desperate for an alternative solution which he believes could be found in Washington.

Brandon Aiyuk loves playing for the San Francisco 49ers. However, if the contract negotiations keep dragging on then he might have to link up with Jayden Daniels in Washington.

As Ryan Clark hinted earlier this week on ESPN, when Aiyuk walked in with Daniels while shooting for an episode of the ‘Pivot podcast’, they knew something big was going down. Clark revealed that the 26-year-old barged in with the Commanders’ rookie quarterback whom he played with back in Arizona.

Aiyuk told Clark that he had one more meeting with the 49ers left before making any decision about his future with the franchise.

S**t there’s a quarterback [Jayden Daniels] right there. I am thinking what I can do with him. If the 9ers don’t want me to come back to play with them, I will think about what I can do. I know what I can do.

After recording a career-high 1342 yards (17.9 yards per catch) and 7 touchdowns, Aiyuk expected a salary hike similar to the numbers. Even though he previously revealed that the 49ers wanted to trade him away, ESPN insider Adam Schefter confirmed last week that the Niners want to keep him.

However, they will not pay him close to Amon-Ra St. Brown or AJ Brown’s $30 million a year salary. Instead, the word is they would prefer it was close to $26 million a year. To put more weight behind his demand, Aiyuk chose the oldest method in the book, by skipping the entire offseason OTAs including the minicamp.

Brandon Aiyuk hinted where he could play if the 49ers don’t pay him

Even though Aiyuk’s relationship with the 9ers general manager John Lynch hasn’t been on the best of terms, the All-Pro playmaker claimed he was at the right place with a quality quarterback, Brock Purdy.

I feel like right now, I'm in the right place in the right spot with the right quarterback. But we're not on the right terms.

So if the negotiations continue to drag on, then the former first-round pick hinted that he may have to look for a job elsewhere. Jayden Daniels was sitting close by, so Washington was definitely the obvious destination. However, Aiyuk had another team in mind.

If I were to guess, probably a Niner uniform. If not a niner uniform, probably [a] Washington Commander uniform, probably Steelers uniform.

The Pittsburgh Steelers could prove to be a suitable team for Aiyuk. They completely overhauled the quarterback spot, bringing in experienced Russell Wilson and former Bears starter Justin Fields. He will fit nicely alongside high-flying slot receiver George Pickens.

Over the Cap revealed that the Steelers are spending $14 million in receiver salaries, the third lowest in the NFL. They also have a $16 million cap space, so it will be easier for them to pay Aiyuk his desired money compared to both Washington and the 49ers.
