Even though Caleb Williams didn’t have the desired start to life in the NFL, it’s undeniable that he has all the talent in the world to become a future superstar and sign big-money contracts like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. Former NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall is a big believer in the 23-year-old, backing him from his days at USC.
In the most recent episode of the I AM ATHLETE podcast, Marshall came across a very interesting list. It contained the names of players who would be the highest earners in 2035. The list was compiled by online AI maestro ChatGPT.
ChatGPT always produces some interesting answers. The AI software predicted that Caleb Williams would be the first NFL player to sign a $1 billion contract, becoming the highest-earning player of all time.
Marshall totally agreed with ChatGPT’s assessment because the NFL is a cash cow and is currently generating revenue worth $20 billion. Marshall claimed it would not surprise anyone that in ten years an NFL player earns close to $50 million a year, considering the inflation.
I love it. I can see it happening [Caleb Williams signing a $1 billion contract]. The NFL is the highest revenue-generating league out of all the leagues.
Brandon Marshall said
However, Marshall argued that the NFL players aren’t getting enough despite the NFL’s popularity. Players in other sports leagues, such as baseball and the NBA, are earning more.
The [NFL] players over the years have been paid the least. Baseball players are already making that. This makes sense to me. The NFL can’t mess it up. The product is great.
Brandon Marshall added
The former Bears and Jets wideout is correct. While 27 players earn north of $40 million each year, that number trickles down to just 15 in the NFL.
Moreover, the biggest contract ever signed by an NFL player was Patrick Mahomes with the Chiefs, a 10-year, $450 million deal (but the highest earner is Cowboys Dak Prescott with $61 million/year). Compared to that, the biggest contract in the MLB shot up to 10 years and $700 million when the Dodgers signed Japanese star Shohei Ohtani. The Mets matched that by awarding Juan Soto with a 15-year, $765 million deal.
Brandon Marshall was left dumfounded with the exclusion of one of his favorite players
Besides Williams’ possible deal, ChatGPT also revealed four other names who would make up the highest-paid NFL players list in 2035. Texas’ young QB Arch Manning is to follow in Williams’ footsteps, followed by Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud (8-year, $850 million contract), the Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. (5-year, $325 million deal), and last but not least, Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons (6-year, $360 million contract).

Marshall agreed with ChatGPT’s prediction but was surprised to find the exclusion of ex-Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders. When he asked the application the reason behind picking Arch Manning instead of Sanders, it mentioned Manning’s lineage and legacy as the main criterion. Manning is the nephew of Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and ex-Giants QB Eli Manning, along with being the grandson of ex-Saints QB Archie Manning.
ChatGPT left out Sanders’ name because it’s unsure of how the 23-year-old will adapt to the NFL’s fierce surroundings.
But let’s be real, he has all the tools, arm talent, pocket presence, leadership, and marketability if he continues to develop and dominate at the next level. He could not only be on this list but maybe even at the top of it.
ChatGPT replied and narrated by Brandon Marshall about Shedeur Sanders
Sanders could find himself in a similar situation as Williams, playing for a dysfunctional team in the first couple of years of his NFL career. However, his father, HOF Deion Sanders, can interfere if he believes certain teams are unsuitable for his son’s skill set.
