The Colorado State Rams tasted the same medicine as the Colorado Buffaloes did by trash-talking their opponents before the matchup finished. They suffered an embarrassing 28-9 loss by the hands of Coach Prime’s team, after being overpowered since the beginning.
The Rams had only scored three points from the first quarter but that didn’t stop their quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi from trash-talking the star college football cornerback, Travis Hunter, over his size. With the Buffs in the lead at 14-3, it was foreseeable that they were going to win, with Hunter playing a crucial part.
At that moment, Fowler-Nicolosi thought the best way to break his opponent’s focus was by bringing him down mentally. He resorted to taunting Hunter, using hand gestures to imply he was “too small.”
However, it didn’t work as the CSU quarterback had hoped, and instead, his pass was intercepted by Preston Hodge late in the third quarter after the star cornerback killed off the drive.
Fowler-Nicolosi started the 2024 season with high hopes after turning down the tempting transfer offer worth $600,000 alongside his teammate, Tory Horton. They both decided to stay with the Rams, but the season doesn’t seem to be going that level at a 1-2 record.
Deion Sanders critiques Colorado State’s Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi’s behavior toward Travis Hunter
As Fowler-Nicolosi’s jab at the Colorado star went viral, head coach Deion Sanders addressed it in a press conference, saying it was quite “stupid.” He was taken aback by such provocative actions by the opposing quarterback and claimed he would advise his sons to learn something from this and avoid making such missteps in the future.
How stupid that was. This is Travis Hunter. Dude, this is Travis Hunter…who does that? I wouldn’t allow my kids to do that. And you all know that. But when you allow kids to sit in an interview and talk against us, and you just got beat by 50-something in week 1. C’mon, bro!Deion Snaders said
Coach Prime argued that he had never seen this kind of trash-talking or behavior in any sport before, nor had it been allowed. He joked about resisting the urge to use curse words for the Rams’ quarterback and concluded by saying he’s a “dog.”
