Kamaru Usman is about to complete his lap around the Welterweight division and one of the last obstacles in his way, Leon Edwards is about to collide against him once again. Edwards and Usman first faced off in the nascent stages of their UFC careers and will meet again after years of growth within the steel reinforcements of the octagon.
After rumours circulated that Usman had suffered injuries to keep him out of competition for a year, it came as a relief to many when at UFC 275, it was announced that the already active champion will maintain the same level of in-ring action even in the twilight stages of his championship run. Edwards on the other hand had suffered the curse of inactivity as multiple fights of his were called off before and during the pandemic. After gaining a decent string of fights against Belal Muhammad and Nate Diaz it looks like Edwards is ready to fight for the top spot in the division.

Belal Muhammad believes he and Khamzat Chimaev challenge the winner of Kamaru Usman vs Leon Edwards
As late as last week many thought a fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Leon Edwards was the fight that was about to be announced considering Usman’s hand surgery and the long recovery period that the champion stated it might need.
However, Belal Muhammad believes this fight announcement seals the deal between him and Khamzat Chimaev facing each other next and the winner challenging for gold next. He said on Twitter, “
The two fighters have had an interesting back and forth over Twitter with Muhammad alluding that the young lion is hesitant to face him.
Khamzat responded by agreeing to fight him any time he was available even going as far to remind him to carry a Palestinian flag, remembering his roots. Though it is unclear if Khamzat will have one more fight before he challenges for the title, Belal Muhammad is a close second favorite to match up against him after Colby Covington.
