In interesting turn of events, the 2022 Australian Open draw is ‘cancelled’ until any further notice. The Men’s and Women’s Singles draw for the megaevent was scheduled to take place on Thursday afternoon- 3p.m. local time but was cancelled at the last moment. The live stream for the event even went live until it was shut down.

It is believed that the draw is delayed keeping in mind that the final call on Novak Djokovic’s deportation will be made in some time. Djokovic won the case on Monday where he got his visa reinstated and was cleared by the federal court to play the Australian Open. But it was speculated that the government is building up a case against him to get him deported before the tournament starts.

Djokovic might face serious troubles as he’s accused of lying to the Australian authorities regarding his positive PCR test dating December 16. If found guilty, Djokovic will be deported from the country and could even face prison time.
