Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson revealed club skipper Son Heung-min’s influence on his career. He admitted that he used to watch and learn from the South Korean star, even before his move to the Premier League outfit.
Brennan Johnson has become a pivotal player in Ange Postecoglou’s side, having scored six goals in 14 appearances this season. The 23-year-old did take some time to settle at his new club after having made a £55 million move from Nottingham Forest last summer. Despite criticism, Johnson has made the best use of his skills, forging a brilliant partnership with Spurs’ skipper Son Heung-min, forward Dominic Solanke and midfielder James Maddison.
In a recent interview with BBC Sport, the Welshman stated that he used to watch videos of ‘Sonny’ (Heung-min) playing for the Spurs, even before making a move to the North London club. He expressed admiration for the 32-year-old’s technique, as well as his usage of both his left and right foot. Moreover, Johnson added on by humorously exclaiming that the South Korean forward might have already hinted at his hidden admiration, through the way in which he often asks for advice, despite not revealing it to him.

Meanwhile, the South Korean star, who has been Tottenham’s go-to player since Harry Kane departed to join Bayern Munich, has not been in the best of form. Son has struggled with injuries this season, making just eight appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
Tottenham provide Son Heung-min injury update, ahead of crucial Aston Villa encounter
Son Heung-min has been shown the green light to play for Tottenham, in their upcoming Premier League encounter against Aston Villa. Manager Ange Postecoglou stated that he would be available, after missing out on three consecutive matches for the Spurs.
He missed the last three matches due to a thigh injury. In his absence, the club endured mixed results, winning a Europa League match against AZ, and then going on to knock out Manchester City from the Carabao Cup. However, they lost to Crystal Palace in the EPL. Prior to the match against Villa, who are 4th on the EPL table, Postecoglou informed that the forward was back to training.
However, Tottenham faces other injury concerns, with both first-choice centre-backs Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero forced to be taken off during the club’s 2-1 win over Man City. Timo Werner, who scored a brilliant goal in the Carabao Cup, is also in doubt to feature against Villa.
