Daniel Vogelbach is returning to the Milwaukee Brewers. On Monday, reports emerged that the former Seattle Mariners star will join the National League Central side as their new hitting coach.
This move from the team comes after they gave promotions to Jim Henderson, Jason Lane and Eric Theisen. Henderson got promoted from assistant pitching coach to pitching coordinator.
Lane went from being a third-base coach to offense and strategy coordinator, whereas Theisen will now be the lead hitting coach after he spent the previous year as the hitting coach of the team.
Along with Guillermo Martinez, Vogelbach will be heading this three-man crew. The ex-slugger will thus become a part of a major reorganization of manager Pat Murphy’s staff for the 2026 season.

Vogelbach, who was selected as a second-round pick in the 2011 draft by the Chicago Cubs, would make his MLB debut with the Mariners in 2016. He would switch time with the Mariners and their Triple-A affiliate, Tacoma Rainiers, for the first 3 seasons.
It was in 2019 when he made his mark. That season, he earned an All-Star appearance as he smashed 30 home runs and had 76 RBIs with a .208 average in 144 games.
Less than a month into the COVID-shortened season, he was designated for assignment by the Mariners. The Toronto Blue Jays would pick him on August 23. The American international made just 5 appearances and went hitless and was designated for assignment on September 1.
Two days later, the Brewers picked him. He produced a slash line of .328/.418/.569 in 19 games with them and returned to the team in 2021 following a $1.4 million deal. He hit 9 home runs and had a slash line of .219/.349/.381 in 93 games that year.
Following an unsuccessful spell with the Pirates in 2022, he would join the New York Mets. Once again, he struggled with form and was non-tendered in November 2023. He would join Jays for a second stint in the 2024 season but made just 79 plate appearances, hitting 1 home run.
In the 2025 season, he joined the Pirates as a special hitting assistant. Now he will part of the Brewers and be their hitting coach.

Despite the criticism from the fans, the Brewers are confident about Vogelbach. Matt Arnold, the team’s president of baseball operations, expressed that he is a “great big league hitter” and knows how to be ready in several positions.
Brewers had impressive offensive numbers in 2025 season
The Milwaukee Brewers had an impressive 2025 season. Following a slow start, the team finished with the best record in the league at 97-65 record. Their offense was one of the reasons for this.

The Brewers were ranked third in runs scored at 806, just behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees. They were second in on-base percentage at .332, one spot behind the Toronto Blue Jays at .333. They also had the third-best batting average at .258, just behind the Philadelphia Phillies and the Blue Jays.
Despite this, the team suffered a heartbreaking loss in the postseason. After dominating the Dodgers in the regular season and having a 6-0 record, they got swept 4-0 in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series (NLCS).
The Brewers remain one of the five teams that have not won the World Series. Manager Pat Murphy will be hoping to change that next season.
