On Thursday, New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman was seen sleeping outside on the concrete floor. The 58-year-old took part in the annual “Sleep Out” charity event. While participating in it, he would mispronounce the word “meme“, which left some Yankees fans enraged on social media.
The Bronx Bombers suffered a division series exit this year. After losing in the World Series in 2024, the team was trying to do one better this year and finally climb back to the top of the baseball mountain.
Following an intense offseason, the Yanks finished with the regular season with a 94-68 record and headed to the AL Wild Card Series as the Toronto Blue Jays won the division title as they held the tiebreaker over them.
After overcoming the Boston Red Sox in the best-of-three Wild Card Series, the Yankees locked horns with the Blue Jays once again. The Canadian side continued its dominance over its division rivals and edged them out in 4 games in the best-of-five American League Division Series (ALDS).
This loss and elimination from the playoffs led to several questions being raised against the Yankees’ management and Brian Cashman. Former Yankees stars Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter were among those who criticized the moves of the team.
A-Rod would go on to say that he wants to hear from Cashman about the decisions made. All of this has left Yankees fans mad at their General Manager.
In the midst of this, he would do something for charity. On Thursday, Cashman participated in the Covenant House’s annual Sleep Out initiative for the 14th time. Along with several others, the Yankees GM would sleep outside the Jacob Javits Center in the hopes of raising awareness and critical funds for youth facing homelessness.
While speaking with the reporters, Cashman admitted knowing about memes regarding him on social media. During this, he would mispronounce the word.
You know this is a meme. About Brian Cashman is asleep on the job. He’s not doing his job. I’ve seen that all over social media.

Recently, the Yankees completed a major offseason move. On Tuesday, outfielder Trent Grisham accepted the $22.05 million qualifying offer of the team. He became the first Yankees star to accept this offer and will now return for a third season with the team in 2026.
Brian Cashman reveals speaking to Cody Bellinger’s agent and being in touch with 2x All-Star’s camp
Brian Cashman and the New York Yankees have a long offseason ahead of them. While Trent Grisham accepting the qualifying offer has solved one of their problems, there is still much work to be done. One of them is to bring back Cody Bellinger.

The 2-time MLB All-Star joined the Yankees last offseason following a trade from the Chicago Cubs. Bellinger hit 29 home runs and had 98 RBIs in 152 games with a .272/.334/.480 slash line.
Following the conclusion of the 2025 season, the former National League MVP opted out of his deal and became a free agent. Last week, Cashman commented on Bellinger and claimed that the team was “very interested” in re-signing him.
While speaking with the reporters during the charity event on Thursday, Cashman expressed that he would “love” to have him back and spoke with his agent, Scott Boras. He also spoke with Casey Close, the agent of Kyle Tucker.
We’d love to have Bellinger come back. Talked to (Scott) Boras yesterday about Belli and other free agents of his.

There are several teams that have shown interest in acquiring the services of Bellinger. One of them is his former team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, with whom he achieved plenty of success.
After a Rookie of the Year campaign in 2017, Bellinger won the NL MVP award in 2019 as he smashed 47 home runs and had 121 RBIs. He then played a crucial part in the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series victory, hitting a massive go-ahead home run in Game 7 of the NLCS against the Atlanta Braves, which saw them come back from 3-1 down to win the series.
Following two underwhelming seasons in 2021 and 2022, the Dodgers would non-tender him and make him a free agent. He would then join the Chicago Cubs and had a promising year in 2023 with 26 home runs and 97 RBIs in 130 games.
After hitting 18 homers and having 78 RBIs in the 2024 season, he was traded to the Yankees. The Bronx Bombers are now hoping to get him back and make a strong push in the 2026 season for their 28th World Series title.
